Summer Internship Opportunity – State Farm Agent Offices

Applications Close November 6, 2026

Position Overview

Are you motivated, outgoing, and ready to gain real-world business experience? Are you comfortable talking to people, willing to take initiative, and eager to be coached? Have you ever wondered what it takes to run your own business and have your name on the door?

We are selecting four college students for summer internship opportunities across four local State Farm agent offices. Each participating office plans to select one intern for the summer.

Submitting this application is the first step in our 2027 Summer Internship interview process.

This isn't an internship where you'll spend the summer simply observing. You'll work alongside an agent and their team, gaining exposure to sales, marketing, customer relationships, communication, and the day-to-day operations of running a small business.

Each agent operates their office a little differently, so every internship experience will be unique.

What You'll Experience

During the internship, you may:

  • Shadow a State Farm agent and their team
  • Learn about the day-to-day operations of running a small business
  • Participate in marketing and outreach activities
  • Make outbound calls and practice professional communication
  • Participate in role-playing and skill development
  • Learn how relationships are built and maintained with customers
  • Assist with various office activities and projects
  • Gain exposure to sales, customer service, marketing, and entrepreneurship
Our goal is to give you hands-on experience and a realistic look at what it takes to build and operate a successful agency.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for students who are:

  • Professional and dependable
  • Self-motivated and willing to take initiative
  • Coachable and eager to learn
  • Comfortable meeting and talking with new people
  • Strong communicators
  • Competitive and goal-oriented
  • Able to work well as part of a team
  • Interested in business, sales, marketing, leadership, or entrepreneurship
  • Willing to step outside their comfort zone
You do not need to already know the insurance business. We're much more interested in your attitude, work ethic, communication skills, and willingness to learn.

More Than a Summer Internship

For the right person, this internship could be the beginning of a much larger career opportunity.

Our goal is to introduce students to the agency business while they're still in college. A successful intern may have the opportunity to return after graduation and work full-time in one of our offices, continue developing for several years, and potentially pursue the path toward becoming a State Farm agent.

If agency ownership isn't your ultimate goal, there may also be opportunities to build a long-term career as part of an established agency team.

There are no guarantees—we want you to see what this career looks like, and we want the opportunity to see what you can do.

The Interview Process

Application Deadline: November 6, 2026

After applications close, the participating agents will review applicants and select candidates for first-round interviews in mid-November.

Depending on the number of applicants, interviews may be conducted individually or in small groups with participating agents.

Top candidates may be invited to a follow-up interview or conversation in the spring before final summer selections are made.

Our goal is to select four summer interns and match each selected student with the agent office where we believe they will be the best fit.

Internship Schedule

The summer internship is expected to last approximately 6–8 weeks, beginning around mid-May 2027. Exact start dates and schedules may vary based on student availability and the individual agent office.
